We have all seen God work in our lives as well as in the lives of others. Whether you recognized it for exactly that or passed it off as a coincidence. It was God’s hand. You might say you don’t believe. Okay, but Truth is Truth, even if someone doesn’t believe it. Think about that for a moment… You may believe the sky isn’t really blue. It is a scientific fact and doesn’t change based on human belief.
God is Sovereign. He is in control. He is Love and He loves us all. You don’t have to believe that, but your coming to that knowledge is to your benefit, not His. Genesis 50:20. But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.
You might ask, how is COVID-19 for our good? Well, the Virus of course is not for our good. It is a very dangerous virus that is highly contagious and life threatening to our physical bodies. There is also a spiritual part of us. Our physical body is important, but it will one day fade away and our spirit live forever “somewhere”. God can work through this physical experience/situation to bring about healing in our hearts toward Him to take Him at His word.
COVID-19 spreads like hate, negativity, greed and lust only to mention a few characteristics of evil. Think about it. These attitudes are highly contagious, longer lasting, and life threatening to our spirits. It all kills eventually and may determine where you spend Eternity. Don’t let the Corona-Virus or the fear of the Virus pass by you or through you without allowing it to change your heart towards God in a positive way. That would be the biggest tragedy.
God has given us a will of our own. From the very beginning we have had the ability to choose whatever we wanted. The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “you may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Gen. 2:15-17. Adam was warned and given a choice. He was not created to be a puppet. He was created to be loved by God and to love God in return. Love is not genuinely love unless it is chosen/given freely (but that is for another time). Like Adam and Eve we have free will. How we use it determines how we live this life and where we spend Eternity.
Mark 4:39 “And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was great calm.” Make No Mistake. God could stop this Virus in it’s tracks and erase all memory of it in an instant and nothing nor no one be changed. But what IF? What if- Instead – people are brought into the saving knowledge of Jesus -Lives were changed for the better -hearts were softened towards God and each other -we begin to love our neighbors as ourselves -people who are lost…are found What if…..
His ways are higher. He has a greater purpose in mind. He knows from the beginning to the end. He knows what it will take for us individually to believe He loves us and wants what is best for us. Just like you do for your child. Turn to Him—Trust Him—Choose Him
Heavenly Father, Thank you! Thank You for being who You are. Thank You for loving us and all that that entails. Thank You Father that this illness is not a surprise to you and You are still in control. Lord I ask you to work through this illness and the situations that we will go through because of it to turn hearts to You. First, for the people who don’t yet know you Lord. Draw them in to the saving knowledge of Jesus and Your love. Father to those who know You, but have not yet accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, help them, draw them in. We know that you don’t desire that anyone should parish. Father do whatever it takes because Eternity is a lot longer that this life on earth. For us Lord, Your people, Christ followers, use this illness to deepen our relationship with You and the people You have entrusted to us in our lives. Thank You that your ways are higher and You can bring about good for us even when we think there is no good to be found. Strengthen us to your service. In Jesus Precious Name. Amen
